Sculpting Nature: Handcrafted Corten Steel Deer

A landscape often needs a focal point to feel complete. We are pleased to introduce a collection of three stunning deer sculptures, available directly from Metal Made Special.

Designed and created by engineer and artist Barry McCann, these pieces are handcrafted right here in the UK. They blend engineering precision with artistic flair to capture the true essence of these animals.

The Beauty of Corten Steel

We manufacture these sculptures using 2mm Corten steel. This material is chosen for both its durability and its aesthetic evolution.

When you first install the sculpture, it is just the beginning of the process. Over time, the steel will oxidise and develop a rich patina. The resulting orange and brown hues look particularly striking when positioned against the deep greens of a mature garden or parkland.

Beyond the look, these sculptures are built to last several lifetimes. They are substantial, permanent additions to any residential or commercial project.

Capturing Movement

The design is all about perspective. Whichever angle or distance you view them from, the sculptures capture the realistic stance and movement of a live animal. We offer three distinct variations to suit different spaces:

  • The Buck: This is our largest piece, making a grand statement. It stands 3000mm high and 3000mm wide, with a substantial weight of 155kg.

  • The Stag: A tall and elegant figure. It measures 2500mm in height and 1800mm in width, weighing 80kg.

  • The Doe: Perfect for a more subtle focal point. This sculpture is 1550mm high and 1300mm wide, weighing 40kg.

A Lasting Impression

These sculptures are more than just garden ornaments. They are pieces of art designed to age gracefully with their environment. Whether you choose a solitary Doe or the imposing Buck, they bring a unique sense of life and character to an outdoor space.
