• Titanic Staircase

metalmade to respect

metalmade was commissioned to create the brass handrails and highly bespoke infill metal detailing for the iconic timber staircase in Belfast’s Titanic experience. Our extensive historical research enabled us to accurately recreate the character and ambience of the original whilst using advanced modern methods.

  • We had the honour of partnering with the very experienced and talented joinery specialists Oldtown Joinery led by mastercraftsman, the late Sean Diamond.

  • This was our first introduction to manufacturing, welding and polishing brass. Subsequently, we have used these techniques in a variety of commercial projects.

  • It gives the metalmade team great satisfaction to know that our work on the detailing of this iconic staircase has been seen by and continues to be appreciated by many hundreds of thousands of international visitors.

  • The Titanic staircase was a testament to carefully researched historic metalwork where bespoke steel and brass fabrication met intricate design detailing in the reconstruction of brass handrails and feature metalwork to complement the grandeur of the timber showpiece.
